Welcome back, baking bestie! I am so happy that you’ve come to visit me today because I recently whipped up a batch of Butter Pecan Cookies, and they couldn’t have come out more perfect.

…and of course, I’m going to show you exactly how to make it!

Is there anything better than a cozy cookie fresh from the oven? The kind that’s crispy around the edges, chewy in the middle, and smells so good you have to sneak a bite while it’s still too hot?

That’s exactly what these Butter Pecan Cookies are. Buttery, nutty, and studded with chocolate chips — they’re one of those recipes you’ll want to make on repeat, especially if you love easy desserts that taste bakery-level impressive.

The Story Behind by Butter Pecan Cookies

When I was creating this recipe, I wanted something a little cozier than a regular chocolate chip cookie. Don’t get me wrong — my famous chocolate chip cookies (they’re in the The Sweet Six) will always be my ride-or-die, but sometimes you just want a little more richness. That’s where toasted pecans come in.

They add such a warm, nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with melty chocolate chips. It’s like the cookie version of your favorite fall sweater.

And if you haven’t grabbed my free recipe e-book, The Sweet Six yet, you need it! It’s my collection of beginner-friendly recipes every home baker should master — and yes, my famous chocolate chip cookies are in there too.

Can I swap the pecans for other nuts?

Absolutely! Walnuts work beautifully, or you can even try hazelnuts if you’re feeling fancy. But of course, I would personally stay as true to the recipe as possible. The pecan and butter mixture is one that I can hardly trade-up!

How to Make Butter Pecan Cookies

In a small saucepan, melt 2 tbsp butter and add chopped pecans. Coat well.

Pour the coated pecans into a separate bowl and set aside.

Melt remaining butter (4 tbsp) over medium heat, and pour into a bowl with both sugars. Mix, then add egg. Mix until all ingredients are well-combined.

Next, sift flour, salt and baking soda and add to your wet ingredients.

Fold in coated pecans, followed by the chocolate chips.

Cover bowl in plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Drop mounds of cookie dough (about 1 ½ inches in diameter) onto the lined cookie sheet. Roll into spheres.
