What Makes These Monster Cookies Different?
Unlike traditional Monster Cookies that are usually made with peanut butter, oats, and candy pieces, these Halloween Monster Cookies start with a classic chocolate chip cookie.
A little green gel food coloring gives the dough its monster-inspired look, while candy eyes add plenty of personality. They’re playful, nostalgic, and exactly the kind of cozy Halloween baking project I love making every fall.

Ingredients
These are the ingredients you’ll need to whip-up these cookies:
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Butter
- Eggs
- All-purpose flour
- Salt
- Baking soda
- Milk chocolate chips
- Green gel food coloring
- Candy eyes
How to Make Halloween Monster Cookies
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter until smooth. Add the egg and continue mixing until fully incorporated.
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt, stirring until a soft cookie dough forms.

Add ¼ teaspoon green gel food coloring and gently mix by hand until the color is evenly distributed throughout the dough. Wearing disposable gloves makes this step much easier and helps prevent stained hands.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly combined.
Using a standard cookie scoop (about 2 tablespoons), portion the dough into 12 cookie dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are just set.
As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, gently press about 5 candy eyes onto each cookie while they’re still warm.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips for Perfect Halloween Monster Cookies
Gel food coloring works much better than liquid food coloring because it creates a vibrant green color without changing the consistency of the dough.
Add the candy eyes immediately after baking so they stick easily to the warm cookies.
For even more personality, use different-sized candy eyes to give each monster its own silly expression.
