Servings 9 brownies

Ingredients

  • 113 g butter ½ cup or 1 stick
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 tsp red gel food coloring
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips extra topping
  • Oreos for topping if desired

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a square pan (8x8) with a parchment paper overhang.
  • Begin by melting the butter – if you are melting it over a stove top in a sauce pan, remove from the heat once completely melted.
  • Next, add sugar and mix thoroughly. Once well-combined, add cocoa powder and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the red gel food coloring – be sure that it is gel food color, as this will give your red velvet brownies its vibrant color. Liquid food coloring will dilute your brownie batter, and its color is not concentrated enough.
  • Add eggs and whisk into the batter.
  • Once your wet ingredients are thoroughly combined, add flour and mix until everything is well-combined and you come out with a smooth batter.
  • Next, fold in the white chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into your lined pan and top off with Oreo cookies, if desired.
  • Bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center of the brownies.
