Prepare vanilla cake mix according to box’s directions. You’ll need 2 eight inch cakes, so be sure you’re getting enough cake mix + corresponding ingredients. We used a heart-shaped pan, but any shape will work just fine.
Be sure to allow the cakes to cool completely once baked.
Cut the tops of your cake to level them out. Set aside.
Using an electric mixer, whip together cream cheese and powdered sugar.
Add in cold whipping cream and mix until the mixture forms semi-stiff peaks.
Use an offset spatula to ice the first layer of the cake.
Add a layer of sliced strawberries on top of the cream frosting.
Add second cake layer on top. Layer with frosting, followed by remaining strawberries (we added strawberries along the edges and then whole strawberries in the center for our cake).
